My client, based in the Education sector is currently seeking a Finance and Operations Manager to join them on a permanent basis. Based in Hounslow, the role will require occasional travel to other sites in London and the surrounding areas.
You will have a background within the Education sector and will be responsible for a team of four direct reports.
Your primary responsibilities will encompass the following:
●Responsible for the management of all financial and accounting operations within the academies.
●Responsible for the implementation and proper use of all AET financial systems within the academies.
●Control and monitoring of financial performance and position of the academies, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and ensuring value for money.
●Preparation of clear and timely monthly management accounts and reports for all relevant stakeholders, and any other financial reports as required by your line manager or the Principals and Headteachers.
●Ensure financial systems and processes are robust, efficient and fit for purpose, including their ongoing review and improvement.
●Responsible for ensuring effective systems of financial control are in place and being implemented over all areas of financial operation, including their ongoing review and improvement.
●Working within regulatory guidelines ensuring that all purchasing ensures that value for money is obtained for Academies Enterprise Trust.
●Responsible for the financial planning, including preparation of 5 year projections and one year budgets, in conjunction with the wider trust financial plan.
●Responsible for working with all budget holders to ensure that they are provided with monthly updates of their spend and advise them on all matters relating to their budgets.
●Act as budget holder for specific budget areas as required.
●Responsible for overseeing the payroll and other activities associated with this function, including pensions, ensuring monthly/annual returns are completed accurately and submitted within the required deadlines.
●Maintain and review of academies' risk registers, taking action to address any high risk areas.
●Responsible for all bank accounts including the academy's debit cards, completing monthly reconciliations and reposting banking errors to your line manager.
●Responsible for financial controls and processes around all aspects of cash management at the academies.
●Ensure audits undertaken by internal and external audit run smoothly and efficiently for the academies, and take appropriate actions for any recommendations made.
●Ensure prompt, efficient and accurate completion of all returns required by the ESFA, HMRC, Companies House, Teachers' Pensions, LGPS and all other relevant external bodies.
●Ensure any tax obligations of the academies are paid timely and correctly.
●Ensure that all funding and income streams are accurately recorded and reconciled, including ESFA funding, local authority funding, lettings, etc.
●Support the Headteachers and Principals in their maintenance and review of risk registers and taking action to address any high risk areas.
●Monitor of service level agreements and contracts to ensure effectiveness of delivery and value for money, negotiating more favourable terms where possible.
●Maintenance of an academy contracts register.
●Work with relevant colleagues to prepare bids for additional grant or capital funding.
●With the Finance and Operations Business Partner, provide regular analysis to establish a thorough understanding of the present state of the organisation's estate and facilities management including:
−linking with the organisation's objectives, needs and policies (from the business plan);
−identifying physical assets and space utilisation (from the capacity and condition assessment strategies);
−reviewing resources, processes and systems to provide a broad picture of the current provision of services; and
●Support the development and maintenance of forward looking, multi-year site development and maintenance plans in liaison with the Building Operations Managers and National Head of Operations
●Liaise with the Estates team to:
●Support the Finance and Operations Business Partner to develop Health and Safety procedure and strategy for the cluster to ensure compliance with the trust strategy
●Ensure delivery of Health and Safety across the estate in the Hub is line with policy
